Ann Arbor, MI

In anticipation of the Greater Chicago Junior Rowing Championship, the squad traveled to Ann Arbor, MI to test their speed against scholastic teams from Michigan, including Skyline, St John Jesuit and Orchard Lake St Mary. Showing their progress from the previous weekend, the the Varsity 4+ of Jack Justic, Brian Johnson, Henry Quinn-Pasin, Zachary Verghese, and cox Ryan Prendergast jumped out to a fast start and led the pack all the way down the course. With 100m to go, the crew hit an oblivious swan that stopped the crew for a stroke, just enough for Skyline to move through and take the win. The boys know they are golden, but will have to settle for silver. In the Junior 4+, the newly formed crew of Thomas Kennedy, Alejandro Vega, Michael Powers, Daniel Blake, and cox Will Lopez raced strong enough in the qualifying heats to make the finals. In the finals, they made no mistake and led right out of the gates, and set a blistering pace to win gold!
