what a difference opportunity makes

The Saint Ignatius Chicago Rowing  has been fostering the growth of student-athletes for over 25 years. Rowing, the oldest intercollegiate sport in America, is also one of the most expensive. Crew requires a large operating budget to pay for equipment, coaches’ salaries, bus rentals for team trips, insurance, boat storage, rower financial aid, equipment costs and maintenance. The rowers’ dues cover only a portion of the costs necessary for team operations

SICR depends on  donations to sustain operations, including financial aid so that rowing at Ignatius is accessible to any interested student.  The team receives no outside funding and philanthropic support of the program is critical to its success.

In this unique and thrilling event, teams of Ignatius rowers will face off on rowing machines, also known as "Ergs," all in the spirit of raising crucial funds for our club. By supporting The Rowathon you'll be helping us maintain and acquire essential racing boats, oars, boat trailers, and, of course, more Ergs. We understand the importance of avoiding constant donation requests, which is why this annual fundraiser is designed to ensure parents and students aren't overwhelmed with continuous fundraising efforts.

We are pleased to offer boats for naming opportunities that will benefit thousands of future St. Ignatius Crew Team Members. Your named boat will have exposure on the Chicago River, typically 15 - 20 hours per week and taken to compete on the national stage including Head of the Charles in Boston, regional and local regattas, Your name will remain on the boat for as long as it stays in the Club. The Boat Naming includes a ceremony and additional branding elements. To learn more click the link Boat Naming Rights to the right.

St. Ignatius Chicago Rowing (SICR) established a financial aid program to assist those students who wish to row but lack the means to pay the full dues. Today, approximately, 20% of our rowers receive financial aid. The annual fees with Spring Break Training is $3,500 per rower. Supporting a rower is the primary way for all alumni, parents, and friends to help sustain all that sets SICR apart. Click the GoFundMe button and make a note with your $3500 donation that you are supporting a rower.

SICR is a 501(c)(3) organization and, therefore, cash donations are tax deductible. In-kind donations also may be made. Consult with the SICR Board President prior to making any significant in-kind donation. If requested, SICR will provide donors with a receipt letter for their records.
